I actually really enjoyed making my last instagram post- Usually it'll come to the start of a new week and I'll wonder what the hell I even did the week before, but not anymore! I love having the last seven days laid out in front of me, it just goes to show that you actually do get a lot done in the course of a week...
This was mine:
1. Skating with Amy 2. My first paycheck! 3. An attempt at an outfit post 4. Reading Elle in the last of the sunshine 5. Finding useless but wonderful things in toysrus 6. Ob 7. Westminster 8. A selfie 9. A ridiculous Givenchy bracelet 10. I'm now blonde... 11. Moving my sister into her lovely new flat 12. Lama at Marc Jacobs
The majority of my favourite bloggers always include posts about they're everyday lives, and most of the time it's these posts I look forward to reading the most.
As much as I love fashion/art/design, I'm surrounded by it everyday and thinking about it constantly, so sometimes it's just nice to do something else for a change. This is why I actually really love reading about what people do with their free time and how they spend their weekends.
Up until about two months ago, my weekends were spent in the exact same way as my weekdays- slaving away at uni over my final collection- so I've been making the most out of them now, and am cramming as much fun shit into two days as I possibly can!
Last weekend one of my favourite people in the whole world (Amy), came to visit me, and we spent two days doing pretty much everything we didn't do as kids- including the aquarium and ROLLER SKATINNGGG!
Why I've never been to a roller disco in my life I don't know- but clearly I've been missing out! And I'll admit I was pretty damn good for a first-timer (until I fell over and almost died).
It was honestly the most fun I've had in ages, and I literally had no idea this place was even here- (It's a pop-up one just next to Central Saint Martins, but I'm not sure how long it's there for)... So I'm really glad Amy suggested we check it out :)
Also the food was TO DIE FOR- seriously I've never eaten a burger that amazing before- I'm not even sure what it was that made it so good, but OH.MY.GOD.
Salivating thinking about it...
All hail the mother of all burgers- beef, pickled onions, and cheese with pineapple and bacon jam-- ohhhh baby
Now to plan how I'll spend this weekend! Sleeping?... Hope you all have a wonderful couple of days off! Here, have some G-dragon...
As most of you who read anything I post about, you'll already be well aware of my love affair with modern architecture, so I could have kissed Emmie when she suggested we go to the Serpentine a couple of weeks ago.
Sou Fujimoto is someone whose work I've always loved and can recognise anywhere, but don't actually know that much about. His pavilion installation is something I've been meaning to admire first hand for flippin' ages, but hadn't got round to until now...
I'll probably make a separate post about him another time, as I could rattle on and on about his use of negative space, and the way he manages to combine both nature and artificiality to create these incredible organic structures that make me want to cry!
But for now, here's us looking really pretty...
Emmie looking like the little babe she is
We originally set out to spend the day being as cultural and arty as possible, and ended up spending most of our day fangirling over ice cream in wholefoods, pulling disgusting faces and obsessing over all the foods we couldn't afford to eat. Somehow we did manage to include a few exhibition in there too- in fact there's a lot at the Saachi Gallery at the moment that was just incredible, so if you're in the area go GO GOOoo! And of course I couldn't help but drag her into Muji on the way home so I could cry at all the pointless but really cure things I can buy when I EVENTUALLY get paid.. I leave you with a song. It's been stuck in my head all week, so now it can be stuck in yours x
I have exciting news! So, a couple of weeks ago I finally handed in all my work and after four years spent at uni, I am officially no longer a student (and also officially unemployed), yyeeyy.. That doesn't actually sound very exciting.. I did however find out a couple of days later that my final collection was one of the fourteen chosen to catwalk at London Graduate Fashion week! Sooo I'm back at uni for another two weeks finishing off a few pieces and getting everything organised for the day ---4th of June by the way--- As much as I was dreading the idea of leaving uni, being back in the sewing room whilst my friends are gallivanting around the country enjoying their new-found freedom has been slightly depressing, so I thought colouring my hair would (maybe) brighten my day a tiny bit... It's kinda working. The best thing about using chalk to colour your hair is the fact it only lasts up until you wash it out, which is perfect seeing as I get bored with my hair so easily. I just used your average pack of art chalk pastels to shade my fringe as I find it works just as well as fancy hair chalk, and I already had some hanging around my room, pluusss it's really easy to mix multiple colours together :) For now I leave you with a few photos of my new pink fringe! Happy Friday! Hannah
Another shopping trip with the lovely Michaela Claricoates to spend the rest of our life earnings on fabric. As is typical of us we spent the majority of the day wandering around &Other Stories wishing we hadn't spent all our money on said fabric before going on to treat ourselves to Sushi and dumplings at itsu- Perfect day :) You can't really tell from the photo but I've finally gotten around to re-dying my hair... Somewhere during the bleaching process the ends of my hair turned a purpley-blue (yey happy accidents)! However I'm still toying with the idea of shaving the whole lot off. Perhaps one day.. For now though I should be doing work seeing as I have THREE DAYS (dear Lord)! left of my degree-- I still can't work out if this is exciting or incredibly depressing! I still feel as though I have so much more to learn and so many more ideas and possibilities left to try... If I could have it my way I'd probably end up staying in education forever.. <3 I wish...
As some of you may already know, Bigbang played in London for the first time last weekend, and I feel incredibly lucky to have been there to witness it. To be quite honest the few weeks running up to it I tried not to think about it that much--too much work and it hadn't really sunk in that I was going-- In fact it wasn't until they actually walked on stage that it felt real and I finally realised where I was...
I'm not going to go into much detail about it as I don't think I can find the words to describe just how amazing they were (and I'm not a good writer at the best of times)
And in all honesty I think I'm still on a bit of a comedown, so instead I'll just leave you with a few photos.
I took mostly videos whilst I was there (which I don't plan on ever sharing because they all include me screaming like an idiot), so please enjoy me and Michaela and the sea of VIPS
Much love
Hannah
I've been meaning to share my relatively new pale blue babydoll (bought for a whopping £3.50) but hadn't had the chance to photograph myself in it yet, so here you go... Quite possibly the cutest thing I own...
Ridiculously blurry crowd due to my dancing, but I thought it looked pretty...
I finally got round to seeing the Hollywood costume exhibition at the v&a yesterday, and all I can say is, if you haven't been already- GO! NOW! It definitely lived up to my expectations and of course the costumes were breathtaking! In fact the whole exhibition itself was set out really well and the fact it was so interactive was a plus. And seeing as I've been feeling so festive recently, I thought the time was right to take the annual visit to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park (after having way too much fun the the toy section of Harrods)...
Michaela, myself and Amy bracing the freezing cold... and moments after taking this photo I bumped into Key from Shinee... by "bumped into" I actually mean I clinged onto his arm, asked if he was Key and stared at him.. before being shooed away by his entourage... I don't really know where my brain was...
Oh and I found the elder wand, which (if you don't count my Key/fangirl moment), was probably the best moment of my life... I'd make such a good Voldemort... I'm going to go and continue to flail over my life, but I'll leave you with a snuggly snippet of my double chin, ommmm tarraaa Hannah
There's been quite a few things I've wanted to blog about over the past few days, but due to my decision to wean myself off caffeine, things haven't gone quite to plan. Instead, I've been dragging my zombie self to uni in a attempt to do work, before wallowing in self-pity and falling asleep.. However, while I have the chance (and the energy), I thought I'd take this opportunity to share with you the photos I took at the design museum on Tuesday. I originally went just with the intention of seeing the "digital crystal" exhibition, but I ended up falling in love with Lawrence Lek's work while I was snooping around the rest of the museum...
Perving on Michaela...
Lawrence Lek is an architect and sculptor who "investigates the processes of natural growth and industrial fabrication through sculptured objects and environments". His "unlimited edition" consisted of huge plywood modules, which he bent into really beautiful organic forms. I was really drawn to the simplicity of his work, and at first I actually thought his structures had been created with leather, so I was amazed to discover that the fluid shapes had been created with rigid plywood. I even loved the way he'd stitched the modules together... It was also interesting to see his early inkblot tests which has clearly been a strong influence on his often even more exciting than the final outcome..
You can see his Designer in residence video HERE! A complete change of subject here, but despite the lack of caffeine and temporarily dying situation, I am actually a very happy bunny indeed as I managed to get tickets this morning to see bigbang in December! I think the thought of potentially being in the same room as G-dragon is keeping me alive and awake! :) For now!..
I had such a lovely day mooching around London with Michaela yesterday- we spent about 586000 years in the Tate modern (where I was awkwardly groped by someone who thought I was his wife) :|, then headed to Brick Lane to say hi to Dragana (I interned with her for a few months last year and had been meaning to pop back and see how she's been getting on).. I picked up a few fabric swatches from Misan textiles, and then fangirled in the new burberry store on Regent Street...
Vampiring..
We also decided to take another cheeky trip to The lazy ones on Sclater Street and they were lovely enough to let me take a million photos while I was in there... Slightly depressing having no money but finding so many beautiful things!
Michaela rummaging....
I found this and realised it pretty much sums up my whole life.. ha.
Other than baking rather questionable-looking cupcakes with Emmie, I haven't really been doing an awful lot other than research, however I shall try and post some of my research and early ideas within the next few days :)
For now I shall leave you with Gregory the shunned Cupcake.. Poor Gregory...
