F A S H I O N // Type cast: Graphic menswear for Wallpaper magazine

I felt the need to share this incredible Wallpaper magazine shoot with you all, in case you are yet to see it. This has to be one of my favourite menswear shoots for a long time. German artist Michael Riedel gives a new perspective on graphic menswear, with pastel shades and modern cuts set against bold, minimal layouts.

The styling in pretty much spot on, and love the black and white shots of the artist at work- shots that are rarely included in fashion editorials. It gives such a feeling of a work in progress- far from the overly styled and heavily edited shoots I usually come across.
Perfect.

Tech Noir

It’s that time of year again- the London Collections are looming, and seeing as my love of menswear has grown beyond comprehension the past six months, I AM WAY TOO EXCITED!
WGSN is my absolute savior when it comes to discovering new trends and new talent (especially considering my schedule no longer allows for extensive internet-trawling), and this morning they lead me to an interview with NEWGEN newbies Common. Designers Saif Bakir and Emma Hedlund describe their identity as “a fusion of London edge, Paris chic and Scandinavian minimalism”.
Their A/W 14/5 collection ‘Tech Nior’ (a hybrid genre of film combining both film noir and science fiction) looks to reflect a feel of “classic stylish Hollywood drama [taken] from the 1940’s and 50’s, fused with technical science fiction.” In their interview with WGSN they explain how this collection was inspired “by the engineered, polished and purified world of gattaca, where the past and the future are combined and interconnected to create a perfect balance of style and the avant-garde.”
Key pieces to look out for this season include their classics men’s shirt with water-repellant zips and knitted engineered collars, bomber jackets (complemented by their bold seasonal prints), and their unlined, double-faced wool overcoat. I’m not sure why exactly, but I’m feeling incredibly excited for these guys- HURRY UP JANUARY!

Inspiration of the week 30.06.13

I have had nothing of much interest to post about recently as my days currently seem to consist of job hunting, reading and drawing, so finding things that inspire me (everyday) is slightly frustrating when I don't have much of a creative outlet right now.
For now though I leave you with three images that I fell in love with this week:

Short angular hair
Gold lip cuffs at Astrid Andersen
G-dragon
