F A S H I O N // Summer wardrobe

Something happens to me every spring. As soon as the temperature gets over the minuses and it stays light longer than 4pm, I start to get that summer bug. For someone who describes herself as a 'winter baby', the prospect of warmer weather and longer days strangely excites me. I begin to imagine barbecues, woodland walks and exotic holiday destinations.
This week I've been fantasising about my summer wardrobe- Sports wear, cropped tops and lightweight culottes.
Ah- not long until I can once again revel in the smell of suncream and cut grass!

We all get older

We're only six days into the new year, but those six days have been an emotional one. No one wishes for bad news at any time of the year, least so now. It's strange to think it'll be my birthday next week- to be honest I haven't thought much about it until now. I was thinking earlier how strange it is that as I grow a year older, her life will be closer to ending. But I guess that's just the way the world works. I also know for a fact that if I told her this she'll tell me off for being so pessimistic and will go on to tell me how wonderful being in your twenties is!
I used to be afraid of growing older, but I don't think I am anymore. If the last few years are anything to go by, the rest of my twenties are going to be incredible!

(Above- a wish list of all the things I would treat myself to this year if I were either very rich or an incredible thief)

B.L.A.C.K

My love for dressing in black seems to heighten that much more come winter. For a lot of people, wearing no colour can feel quite depressing, but for me it's the exact opposite. Personally I feel as though I look like a little girl if I wear too much colour, and so gradually over the years I have started buying less and less bright clothes, resulting in a now predominantly black, white and grey wardrobe...

Anyway, I thought I'd share with you all a few more items that happen to be on my ever-growing (and very monochrome) winter wish list.

  • Lace-up wedge boots by Grace Candy (which just so happen to be on their way to me right now) yey!
  • Kimnamjoo backpack- suwoner.com (sadly the black appears to be out of stock), but hopefully if they get any more in I'll be able to get my hands on one :)
  • Black zip cardigan by Cos
  • "How to make a Japanese house" by Cathelijne Nuijsink
  • Wallpaper magazine subscription

Now to get back to the dissertation research... grooaann..

Short-arse.

I'm small.

Despite most people complaining about their lack of height, I usually try and see it as quite a good thing (fitting in small gaps and being charged child prices often have their advantages), however it does get slightly irrating when the giants of this world knock you flying, squash you, or quite frankly don't even notice you're there...

And this was pretty much how I lived for the first 20 years of my life.

That is until about 2 years ago when I discovered the joy of platforms/flatforms (don't get me wrong here, I was very aware of their existence before this moment, but more in a dodgy 70's Dad kinda way)...
I've never been the kind of person who can wear heels well, so when I found I could be an average height without the awakard tottering and sprained ankles, it was an absolute blessing! So here I've thrown together a collection of some of my favourites that I've been eyeballing for a while.
Here's to being 5"5 forever!

1. ETS Callatay classic derby platform wedge heels
2. Charles by Charles David Theory 2
3. Yesstyle platform wedge boots
4. Nude estimate flatform strap sandal
5. Asos vita flatform ankle boots

"Wishing I wasn't a poor student" wishlist

Winter is almost here! This probably fills the majority of you with dread and fear but for me it's always my favourite time of the year. Being a winter baby (I was born in the middle of January), I always find myself drawn to darker colours, chunky knits and so many layers I look like a walking wardrobe.. Luckily for me living in England means I can pretty much dress like this the whole year round, but nothing really beats crisp winter morning, cosy evenings in front of the fire, and ridiculous amounts of hot chocolate... As soon as I came back from Japan (and back to the coooold) I started hunting for winter wardrobe ideas. Sadly being on a tight student budget means my 500000 wish lists are having to take a drastic cut, but here are just a few items that have caught my eye this month- JUST LOOK AT THOSE SHOES! I'm sure it's definitely worth living off instant noodles for a few weeks in order to afford them!
