So it’s been almost three weeks since my trip to Japan and I’ve only
just got round to making a post about it, I’m so rubbish!
But anyway, instead of bombarding you all with the ridiculous amount of
photos I took whilst I was there, I’ve decided to just show you a couple from
each place I visited, (so Tokyo, Ito, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Hiroshima, Miyajima
and finally Yokohama to visit Keiko). Unfortunately I was only there for two
weeks (visiting my boyfriend who had been studying at Kyushu University), but I
actually managed to see and do so much in those few days.
When I try and
remember exactly what I did while I was there though I just end up conjuring up
images of an incredibly sweaty me dodging through the Tokyo subway, or sat for
hours on end on the shinkansen travelling from city to city. However when I get
past the blur of public transport I can actually remember just how amazing
Japan was… The impression I got while I was there was something of a very
diverse country; there’s such a mix of beauty, history and tranquillity but at
the same time it feels so modern and fast-paced. Oh and lets not forget
crowded, (and to think there was a time when I thought rush hour in London was
crazy). However, despite being crushed by millions of businessmen I have to say
I enjoyed every second I was there. I never thought I’d find a country I love
as much as England (because yes, despite the crappy weather and miserable
people, I really do love it here), but I can safely say Japan is up there on
the small list of places I will live
one day. Even if only for a short time I can see it happening one day in the
future… I felt so safe the whole
time I was there, and I noticed I wasn’t as wary walking home in the dark alone
as I am here. Little things like feeling you weren’t going to get mugged (which
actually I very rarely feel while I’m in London, but apparently it happens),
and how willing random strangers were to help you out. One guy showed took us
all the way to our hotel even though he was late to meet his wife.
Oh, and the Japanese are beautiful. But you all knew that already…
