Pastels and The Parlour ♥

This is the first time I've lived at home in about four years. At first I thought moving back would be a huge challenge and dreaded the thought of the small world of a little town, but actually it's been surprisingly... nice? I think I'd be going crazy if I didn't commute to work everyday as bigger cities generally hold a lot more interest for me, but for now weekends back in my home town are pretty cute.
During my time away I'm pretty sure every time I came home there'd be some sort of adorable new shop or cafe that I couldn't wait to try out- and the most recent one is The Parlour. I walk past this place everyday on my way to the train station, and it is just so damn cute. It's so pretty I feel as though it should be sunny little beach town instead of our slightly grotty high street. Girly pastel stripes, bunting and all the sundaes you could eat- perfect.
It may have something to do with all the Great British bake off we've been watching, but both me and my mum have been wanting to test this place out for weeks, so as we had a few spare ours this weekend we couldn't resist! We devoured a chocolate Guinness and red velvet cake, two scoops of ice cream as well as well as too delicious hot chocolate's between us- definitely the best weekend treat!

The most incredible hot chocolate ever!

These were the most incredible cakes ever- I don't think I can even describe them well enough- rich, moist and the perfect size. We even decided to be massive rebels and get a scoop of ice cream on the side of each- soo so good!

Older and...wiser?

I finally reached the much dreaded age of 22 last Friday, an age I've been anything but looking forward to. Thankfully however, I didn't wake up an old and wrinkly hag as I dramatically envisaged. In fact I've had the chance to look back over the past year and it's strange to see how much I have developed as a person in just twelve short months. When I was a child I naively assumed as soon as you became an adult you automatically knew exactly who you are and what you wanted in life, so it for some reason still delights me when I see myself change as I learn more...
I decided to have a quiet one for my birthday this year, so my housemates and a few of the uni girls spent Thursday evening stuffing ourselves with tapas before going home to visit my family and to take a break short from Uni work.

And introducing the most incredible cake I have ever eaten made for me by my housemate's sister :) What a darling!

Lady and the Tramp(s)

My housemates and I have spent our saturday vintage shopping, flapping about town and watching disney films- The best way to spend a saturday!
I thought I'd share a few photos I took during our tea (and cake) break at "Nana's kitchen", and just general photos of us being goofs.. enjoy :)

Chai latte, banana and white chocolate cake, and orange raison and ricotta cake- back to the tight student budget next week! Too much cake-splurging and over-indulgence!

We realised we absolutely fail at scrabble- that English a-level has reeallyy come in useful...

I died...

We thought this mug pretty much summed up Amy's life..
I also bought a little pale blue nightie/slip thing for less than £4, it's so beautiful. I'm considering wearing it to Uni, but am yet to style it with something I already own.. Oh and my new circle lenses arrived today, so I may make a blog post/review on them at some point this week (if I succeed in putting contacts in for the first time)! Until then I'm continuing to spend my life painting, starting my dissertation (Aasdfghjkl)! and being poor again...

cryyy.
