Molly Goddard, make me a fairy princess!

I'm sure most of you will remember CSM graduate Molly Goddard's final collection from 2012- I know I have- which is why at the beginning of the year when I discovered she was planning a collection with ASOS, I knew I'd be making this post at some point.
It was a really pleasant surprise to hear that ASOS were teaming up with an undergraduate (finally)! And I'm incredibly glad they did..

For someone who usually steers clear of anything overtly feminine and pretty (more from fear than anything else I think), it's strange to think how much I fell in love with this collection. I think what I really loved about her dresses were the transparent tulle "shells" layered over the delicate crocheted pieces worn underneath. For something so reminiscent of the little frilly party dresses I was (thankfully rarely) stuffed into as a child, it's surprising just how wearable they are!
I've spent the past few weeks imagining them layered over the majority of my current wardrobe and getting ridiculously over-excited. Kinda depressing that I can't actually afford them.
They have however inspired many a future DIY project for me this summer- I'm picturing a whole closet of transparent tulle t-shirts and mini dresses now- finally, something girly that can still be combined with my masculine wardrobe-horrahh!

Another designer who manages to perfect the art of lacy frills is Japanese designer Etsuna Otsuka, who's hand-made transparent baby doll dresses are absolutely TO DIE FOR!
Check her stuff out, I know you'll love it!

For now I'm off to raid the fabric shops!
